Kamal Givian was born in 1960 in the small town of Zanzan, Iran. He graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Tehran. Early in Givian's career, he perfected his drawing, painting and sculpting skills. He continues to perfect his knowledge of the figure through life drawing experiences. He currently lives near New York City.

He has been influenced by the works of Goya, Modigliani and Delacroix, especially as it relates to the exaggeration of form for effect.

Givian has exhibited throughout Iran, as well as Paris and New York. Kamal has a gentle nature and a sensitive touch with his brush. Art Exchange Gallery here in Santa Fe, New Mexico welcomes his wonderful talent.
